Varanasi City – A Spiritual Experience

Varanasi is a city which is highly revered by the Hindus. The city is popular  for making one’s spirituality reach its pinnacle. It is situated on the banks of river Ganga, which is considered the holiest river of India. Scores of people come to dip in the holy Ganga River to wash away their sins. It is firmly believed that taking a tip in the pious river Ganga absolves one’s sins.

As far as the Varanasi Ghats are concerned, they are the holiest spots of the city. Devotees from far-flung areas come here to enlighten their soul. Among many holy ghats, the Dashashwamedh Ghat stands is the most popular ghat. It is renowned for its evening aarti which offers a rare sight exhilarating one’s soul.

Kashi Vishwanath temple is among the most famous temples of Varanasi. It is famous for one of the twelve Jyotirlingas that it houses.

Some of the popular excursions from Varanasi include Sarnath, Ramnagar, Vindhyachal, Chunar Fort, Kaushambi and Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary.

Getting There

By Air

Varanasi airport is well-connected to several cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai and Agra. There are also daily domestic flights from Varanasi to various cities. International travelers can get flights from Delhi, which is around 810 km away. Delhi is well-connected with all the major cities in India as well as cities in abroad.

By Train

Varanasi has a good connectivity with all the major railway stations in India. There are two rail heads called Varanasi junction and the Kashi junction. Many express trains link Varanasi with cities of Delhi and Kolkata.
